Michael, is it made of baltic birch ply? I noticed how light in weight the mold was if i compare to the ply i used before, LOVE the SJ shape, i'll be looking into buying the OLF SJ plan, it will be a nice change from the dreads and the first guitar that will come out of it will be mine, all mine yeah! ![]() ![]() |

You bet Mike, the first one coming out of this mold will be a red cedar top from Shane Neifer and a white ash back & sides from Bob Cefalu, the combo appeared nice and promising at first glance. I have to finish 2 and 3 for Mom and Dad first though! ![]() Serge |

Serge Thats going to be stunning, I love Ash, the bindings will need to be dark, Ebony, Rosewood, Walnut ? Russ |

Thanks Charlie and Russell, both of them woods look very promising for tone, add to it an SJ shape and good bracing and i should have the geetar of my dreams! yeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaw! ![]() Russ, which of them 3 bindings would you use first if it was yours? i gotta admit i have a penchant for ebony tho! Serge Ebony would be cool the stark Black against the sides and top would be nice, two slight drawbacks with Ebony, one it is the most difficult of the three to bend, although with your blanket and bending machine that should be easy enough, secondly the dust from the ebony needs to be handled so it doesn't stain the light woods, I usually keep a seal coat on until final sanding, which is done with an ROS connected to a shop Vac. Ebony is a good material for binding as once on it is strong. |
